How to Recover Abandoned Carts via SMS

Want to run SMS-based campaigns?

SMS has high open and clickthrough rates and let you reach your users exactly where they are.

Using the hand-held devices you can skyrocket your cart recovery rates and even sales.

For doing SMS based campaigns, you need to have Twilio connector of Autonami that’s available in the Pro & Business plan.

Here’s the step by step process to implement a cart abandonment campaign using SMS.

Step #1: Select’Cart Abandoned’ as your Event under WooCommerce

Start the automation with ‘cart abandoned’ trigger:

Next, hit the ‘Save‘ button.

Step #2: Click on the ‘+’ icon, and Select ‘Direct Action’

If you want to set some conditions here, based on cart total, cart item(s), etc., – you can select conditional action.

Step #3: Select ‘Send SMS’ as your Action

You’ll only see this if you have the Twilio connector activated:

Step #4: Craft the Body of the SMS

Use a range of merge tags to personalize the content of your SMS.

As you can notice, the first name, recovery link, customer phone details are all coming via the merge tags used.

You can also use emojis in your SMS body to make the SMS fun to read and scannable.

Step #5: Set Delay for this SMS

Set a 4 hours delay for this SMS to be sent to the prospect.

When you’re done, hit the ‘Save‘ button.

You may add follow-up SMS to send on a specific day of the week

Autonami lets you delay the SMS until a specified day of the week.

So if you think your users are more likely to read and act upon an SMS that comes on a weekend, send the day like this:

Hit the ‘Save‘ button.

That’s it. Now you’ve set up SMS automation for cart abandonment.

Step #6: Make the Automation Live

When you’re ready to make the automation live, just click on the toggle appearing at the top-left corner of the automation interface.

And then you’ll see the color change from orange to green. This means that your automation is now live and running.

There you go!

You’re now all set to recover abandoned carts using SMS.
